Job Descriptions

Registration: Sign up flyers, collect launch fees, check certification levels, sell raffle tickets, sell dinner tickets, and generally answer questions. This is exceptionally hectic the first few hours of Saturday morning and we will need more than one person during this time, other than that this is a fairly relaxed job.

Range Safety Officer (RSO): Responsible for making sure rockets are safe to fly according to NAR safety rules. Make sure information on the flight cards is correct. The decision of the RSO is final, but the RSO can confer with club officers if there is a question about the safety of a rocket. You must be Level 2 certified to perform this job.

Launch Control Officer (LCO): Responsible for flight operations. Coordinate traffic to pads. Ensure conditions are safe for launches including clear range, clear sky, rockets pointing up, and in some cases verification that rockets are safe to fly. Make announcements. Launch rockets using launch control panels.

Pad Manager: Generally just help folks in the pad area. This includes directing traffic, helping to get rockets onto the pads, helping to get firing lines connected, finding standoffs and different sizes of rods, safing and arming pad boxes, and anything else that's needed in the pad area. This job is fairly easy and quick to learn but it helps keep the launch moving along smoothly.

Setup/Tear Down: Many hands make light work. On Friday evening and Saturday morning the range will be set up. On Sunday afternoon we will be tearing down the range. Lots of equipment has to be moved during these two times. If you are able to help out for a few minutes it will
be appreciated
